Towns – Info

Hello Gamers,

Today I wanted to let you know about another WIP Indie game. This one aptly named Towns. In Towns you are tasked with creating a successful sprawling settlement, think Settlers. It is essentially a strategy simulation game. With each one of your town citizens having their own life, thoughts, and control over themselves.

In towns you can create your own town or settlement anyway you see fit. You can level an entire forest to use the wood to build any sized city you wish. Or you can mine deep into the earth and use the stone to build a stronger more studier town. Regardless of how or where you build your town, you must build a successful one so that your citizens can prosper and grow. As each have their own life and want to live it to their fullest. In this way it separates itself from games like Anno or The Settlers.

The Social Gaming Craze

Hey Gamers,

Today I have another one of my “Random Thoughts” Articles. As usual these are just my observations and opinions on current gaming trends or just random things related to gaming. This one is about the current and ongoing Social Gaming Craze that is mostly centered around facebook.

This social gaming craze that seems to be sweeping the nation, as products such as Angry Birds and other simple flash games become internet sensations with entire memes dedicated to them is beyond ridiculous to me. As it was barely a few years ago all these flash games were dedicated to flash game sites like newgrounds.

Where having a page dedicated about you such as on facebook was not required and really unnecessary. People simply went there to waste time or enjoy themselves playing a simple flash game or flash movie. Nowadays its a multi million dollar Enterprise with the likes of Zynga and other flash game creators. That previously only hosted their flash games on their own sites or via approved game launchers they created.

Euclideons Unlimited Detail Engine

Hey Gamers,

Today I wanted to talk about Euclideons UDE or Unlimited Detail Engine. If you’ve never heard of the Unlimited Detail Engine then the pictures and videos below may be rather amazing to you. Euclideon has attempted to break the standard of traditional 3d modeling and animation.

Typically all 3d models are made with small polygons, why polygons? Because they’re rather efficient when used in large amounts to assemble and create 3d worlds for video games. Yet they can still be blocky and have rather poor textures later applied so that they can run on said video game console hardware or specifications.

In an attempt to divert entirely from polygons, the team at Euclideons have designed a cloud point based engine that instead of using polygons uses atoms to build and and make up the matter of every model or building block in the game. This can lead to incredibly high def or realistic graphics while at the same time Euclideon claims requiring virtually little graphics card power or system requirements.
